Promise Auction
The promise auction idea was discussed. 10 families had replied to the questionnaire at the end of last term with offers of help or donations of items for the auction. The general feeling was that the auction would require significant time and effort to make it a success and that we did not have enough commitment at this time to continue with plans for this event. We would revisit this idea later.
Future fundraising events
Christmas cards
Viki showed us a flyer from Art Screen Prints Ltd who will print your child’s artwork onto Christmas cards and bags etc. We agreed that we would progress this idea to have items ready for parents to buy for the end of November. Viki will see if there is any other companies offering the same products at cheaper prices.
Mufti day
Mufti days planned for 17th October (will ask for donations to jumble sale raffle prizes) and 29th November (will ask for donations to Christmas raffle to be drawn at school Christmas play, 11 Dec).
Jumble sale/nearly new sale
Following on from the success of the last jumble sale, it was agreed to hold another this term with the provisional date of 30th November. We will hold a raffle, but will not sell cakes like last time, just offer tea and biscuits.
Bags2school
We will try to book a bags2school collection for the week following the jumble sale to take away anything left from the jumble.
Christmas Grotto Evening
Janine suggested a Christmas grotto evening – santa could have a grotto in the yurt, lit with fairy lights, candles in jars outside leading up the path to the grotto etc. Children taken in to see santa in small groups, he will read them a story and give them a small present. While the other children are waiting, they will watch a short Christmas film in the school hall. Mulled wine and mince pies for grown ups (for a donation) and hot chocolate and a cookie for the children. Ticket price would be £5 for the children. We will ask for donations of hot chocolate, mince pies and mulled wine and Janine has agreed to contact Asda, Booths, Morrisons etc. We anticipate the evening will run from 5.30-7.30. A date of Friday 13th December has been provisionally booked for this event.
Other ideas
The group was reminded about Coop’s charity fundraising linked to donations via their coop card. Every year each local coop shop chooses a small number of charities to support. Apparently both Ingleton and St Mary’s Primary Schools have benefited from this in the past. Janine agreed to contact Ingleton Coop about this.
