7th November 2019

It is Thursday, not Friday but the majority of our children will be out at Tower Wood tomorrow so we are sending our ‘Friday’ bags today.
We have had a fairly busy week in school, the infants thoroughly enjoyed their first Tower Wood session of this academic year – they went on a bear hunt, built campfires and toasted bread and marshmallows! Pictures will be uploaded to Facebook today so please go and have a look.
Our upper junior High-5 netball team played fantastically well as a team and had great fun doing so. Well done all!

REMINDER: Home – School Agreement – last week we sent out our Home-School agreement, please can they be returned to us ASAP. Thank you to those who have already brought them back in.

Welfare Assistant – we have a vacancy for a welfare assistant on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 11.45am – 1.15pm (term time only). We need someone to help serve meals and supervise the children during their midday break.  Please contact the office for more details.

REMINDER: Junior Residential thank you to all the parents who have returned the slip and deposit for the Malham residential, we would like to know by Monday if your child/ren will be going, so we can confirm numbers with the Youth Hostel. Please complete the form on the back of the letter and return with your deposit. Thank you.

National Anti-Bullying Week 11th – 15th November is anti-bullying week.  The theme this year is “Change Starts With Us” and we will be doing some work on this in school.  Some useful information for parents about what is classed as bullying & how to help your child if they are being bullied or are bullying others is available online; https://www.bullying.co.uk/advice-for-parents

Walk to School Breakfast Trek – our next “Walk to School” is this Tuesday at 8.20am from Cowan Bridge Village Hall.  Those taking part will be rewarded with a lovely breakfast when they arrive at school.

Infants Forest School – the infants will be continuing their Forest School Adventures on Tuesday afternoon with a visit to the wooded area here at school. They will need appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for the weather.  If they have waterproof trousers please send them, as the ground is often damp even if it’s not actually raining. A hat, scarf and gloves may be useful too, given the cold, windy weather we’ve had recently.

PTFA Meeting – the PTFA met in school on Tuesday and discussed job roles for the upcoming Jumble Sale. A list of helper slots has been put up outside the office – please ensure you sign up if you can help – these events cannot happen without enough volunteers.
We are also seeking donations of boxes / baskets to make the hampers with all the lovely goodies we received from our last mufti day. If anybody has any please bring them in to school.
We will be making the goodies into hampers on Monday 18th November from 2.45pm – we would really appreciate any helpers for this – many hands make light work!

Boxes of Hope – a huge thank you to everyone who has brought a shoebox to school, they can still be dropped off in the morning for any who have missed.

Poppy Appeal – poppies are still available to buy from the office, please give what you can to support this great cause, we would love to see all children wearing a poppy or similar in school. All items are priced at 50p, a suggested donation of 50p is recommended for the poppies.
