6th December 2019

Well what a busy week we’ve had! We started the week with a very busy Toddler Group Play Session – and 17 pre-school children, we hope they all had as much fun as we did!
On Tuesday, 18 children joined us for a beautiful wintery Walk2School and were rewarded with crumpets and fruit!
On Tuesday afternoon, Mr Thompson – Finlay & Harriet’s dad – popped into school and pruned the willow tunnel, we would like to say a huge thank you to him for taking time out of his day to do this for us.
The Advent Reflection Day was a huge success, we had almost 50 infant children from our cluster schools enjoying various different outdoorsy activities including wreath making, lanterns and Christingle celebrations.

Welfare Assistant – we have a vacancy for a welfare assistant on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 11.45am – 1.15pm (term time only). We need someone to help serve meals and supervise the children during their midday break.  Please contact the office for more details.

Christmas Puddings – we will be selling Christmas Puddings after school on Tuesday – £3 per pudding!

Christmas Performance – the children are all very much looking forward to performing for you next Wednesday 11th December in the school hall at 2.00pm and 6.00pm.
We’ve had some volunteers to sell raffle tickets at the performances, so tickets can be bought up until 5.55pm on Wednesday evening.

After School Club – we have been informed there will be NO after school club on Wednesday.  Apologies for any inconvenience.

Christmas Shopping – on Monday 16th December, we will be hosting a Christmas shopping event from 3.15pm. Children will have the opportunity to spend their pocket money on Christmas presents for you and/or members of your family; they will choose from a wide range of gifts and then personally wrap the present themselves. The gifts range between £3.00 & £5.00. We really hope that you will support this activity, as we believe it encourages the Christmas spirit of giving. We look forward to seeing you there!

Matilda – the infants have just finished their class novel ‘Matilda’, we are intending to watch the film on Monday 16th December – it is rated PG, please advise if you have any objections.

Music Performance Tuesday 17th December at 9.00am – we would like to invite all parents to come into school to watch the junior children perform a music concert led by Mrs Jane Lawrence, our music teacher from QES. This will be Mrs Lawrence’s last session with our children as she has given notice from January due to other work commitments – Mrs Chesters will continue to provide music lessons for junior children following the Christmas break.

Leck St. Peter’s Church Carol Service – our annual Carol Service at Leck Church is on Wednesday 18th December from 6.00pm.  All children are expected to attend the Carol Service wearing their school uniform. We look forward to seeing as many parents, grandparents and friends of school there as possible. After the service, refreshments will be provided by The Methodist Chapel who will be joining us on this occasion.

Party Day! – our annual whole school Christmas Party Day will be on Thursday 19th December. The cook from Melling has put on a Christmas Party Lunch menu for all children to enjoy, pizza or hotdogs. If your child would like lunch that day, please send in your completed form by Monday.

REMINDER: Christmas Pantomime – this year, the whole school will be watching “Cinderella” at the Dukes Theatre on Friday 20th December.  Further information regarding the trip will follow shortly.
The total cost of the trip is £15.00, but as the PTFA have kindly agreed to fund the transport, we are asking parents for a contribution of £10.00 per child. Please send cash or cheques made payable to Leck St Peter’s CE Primary School.

PTFA Jumble Sale – the jumble sale was a great success, we raised a total of £356.96, with some jumble left over for the Bag2School collection in January! Thank you to everyone for helping; by donating jumble, refreshments and to all who helped on the day, without you it wouldn’t have been possible.

REMINDER: Raffle Ticket Sales – any sold raffle tickets should have been brought back into school today – any outstanding should be returned on Monday morning.  Thank you.

Winter Wonderland – please can any outstanding payments be made for the Winter Wonderland by Monday. Tickets will then be sent home with children.

Easy Fundraising – please don’t forget to support the PTFA by using the Easy Fundraising website or downloading the app – it’s straightforward to use, and schools can raise amazing amounts of money.
