13th December 2019

We hope that all those families and friends who were able to join us for our Christmas performances earlier this week thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The children did an amazing job.
We would like to say a very big thank you and well done to all our teaching staff for putting together such a wonderful production.
The junior children have completed their computing topic ‘we are toy designers’ in which they had to design, code and present their design for an interactive toy. This week, we held our presentations in “Dragons Den” style with the children competing to win the judges’ investment of chocolate coins. All the juniors did a brilliant job, well done to everyone, especially Florence and Scarlett who were the ultimate winners with ‘Robbie the Robot’. Photographs have been added to our Facebook page.
Next week is very busy in school and we have lots to look forward to including winter crafts, forest school, our carol service, party day and the pantomime!

Welfare Assistant – we have a vacancy for a welfare assistant on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 11.45am – 1.15pm (term time only). We need someone to help serve meals and supervise the children during their midday break.  Please contact the office for more details.

Early Man – as an end of term treat the juniors will be watching ‘Early Man’ to link to their Stone Age to Iron Age topic work earlier in the term. We are intending to watch the film on Monday 16th December – it is rated PG, please advise if you have any objections.

Christmas Shopping – on Monday 16th December, we will be hosting a Christmas shopping event from 3.15pm. Children will have the opportunity to spend their pocket money on Christmas presents for you and/or members of your family; they will choose from a wide range of gifts and then personally wrap the present themselves. The gifts range between £3.00 & £5.00. We really hope that you will support this activity, as we believe it encourages the Christmas spirit of giving. We look forward to seeing you there!

Music Performance Tuesday 17th December at 9.00am – we would like to invite all parents to come into school to watch the junior children perform a music concert led by Mrs Jane Lawrence, our music teacher from QES. This will be Mrs Lawrence’s last session with our children as she has given notice from January due to other work commitments – Mrs Chesters will continue to provide music lessons for junior children following the Christmas break.

Lancashire Library Bus Visit – the library bus will be visiting school on Tuesday 17th December for children to swap or renew library books.

Leck St. Peter’s Church Carol Service – our annual Carol Service at Leck Church is on Wednesday 18th December from 6.00pm.  All children are expected to attend the Carol Service wearing their school uniform. We look forward to seeing as many parents, grandparents and friends of school there as possible. After the service, refreshments will be provided by The Methodist Chapel who will be joining us on this occasion.

Party Day! – children can come to school in their party clothes next Thursday for our annual Christmas party.

Christmas Pantomime – a full information sheet is enclosed for our whole school trip to the pantomime next Friday. Children should come to school as normal; wearing their uniform, with a packed lunch and drink. Thank you.

Infant Baking Classes – will resume on Monday 6th January starting with Hugo & Edward. The infants will be cooking in pairs, on a rota basis, on Monday mornings. The bake this half term will be Cheese & Tomato Melts, and in this week’s bag, you will find a letter with full details and ingredients.

Lancashire Archives – the infant children will be visiting the Lancashire Archives on Tuesday 14th January 2020 to support our history topic work.
We are seeking parent volunteers to accompany us on the day. If you can help please let Mrs Mather know next week.

PTFA – we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for your fundraising efforts the last couple of weeks! We’ve had a bumper raffle raising just over £830 – well done to The Thompson family for selling 68 tickets, enjoy your family hamper – and the Winter Wonderland ticket sales £200! This money benefits all children in school, be that towards transport to trips, resources and the canopy which we are currently in the process of receiving quotes for.

Easy Fundraising – please don’t forget to support the PTFA by using the Easy Fundraising website or downloading the app – it’s straightforward to use, and schools can raise amazing amounts of money. All you need to do is create an account and set your cause to St Peter’s School Leck, the website is https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/stpetersceprimaryschoolleck/ Perfect for those just starting Christmas shopping, or for picking up any last minute bits.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTS OUR FUNDRAISING EFFORTS; ALL MONEY RAISED BENEFITS ALL CHILDREN IN SCHOOL.

And Finally…… as this is the last newsletter of the term, may I, Mr Stafford-Roberts, all teachers and staff wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year! We look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 6th January 2020!
