17th January 2020
We’ve had a busier week in school this week. The infants enjoyed a day trip to the Lancashire Archives on Tuesday, learning about the local area and things that have changed to our school and church from the past. On Thursday the Y1 children took part in a KS1 Multi Skills event at Caton Primary School with other children from our cluster. They all thoroughly enjoyed taking part – pictures have been uploaded to our Facebook page today.
PTFA Charity Fundraiser – we’ve had some fabulous crazy hairstyles in school today! Thank you to all families for getting involved and generously donating to such a worthwhile cause – we’ve raised over £100, with some money still to come in! Pictures can be seen on our Facebook page!
Reminder – Friday Bags – as you are aware, each Friday, a bag is sent home via your eldest child which contains a variety of information for you to read and, in some cases, act upon. This is a very important means of communication between school and home therefore, please can you ensure that you empty your child’s bag on receipt ready for returning back to school every Monday. At present, we seem to have a number of children failing to return their bags so we have no means of assurance that the information sent out each week has been received. The bag is to be used to safely return any reply slips, completed forms and money etc. It is important to ensure that your child knows to bring back and hand in their bags each Monday, especially if you have placed money inside – thank you.
For children in nursery, please return bags on your child’s first day back at nursery following picking it up at the start of the week.
School Council News – our school council would like to thank all families who donated to the Manna House collection last term. There is a letter enclosed this week regarding this term’s collection. Thank you.
Welfare Assistant – we have a vacancy for a welfare assistant on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 11.45am – 1.15pm (term time only). We need someone to help serve meals and supervise the children during their midday break. Please contact the office for more details.
Infants Forest School – the infants will be continuing their Forest School Adventures on Tuesday afternoon with a visit to the wooded area here at school. They will need appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for the weather. If they have waterproof trousers please send them, as the ground is often damp even if it’s not actually raining.
Easter Craft Club – after half term Mrs Mather will be starting an Easter craft club, which will run at lunchtimes on a Tuesday (or Monday if we’re out of school). Children will be making a range of different crafts. The cost for 5 weeks is £10.00 which covers all materials. Please return the slip by Monday 27th January if your child/ren would like to join so that resources can be ordered. Many thanks.
Bag2School – the Bag2School collection has been arranged for Thursday 30th January. They accept good quality adult and children’s clothing, paired shoes, hats, bags, belts, ties and soft toys. No bedding, curtains, towels or bric-a-brac please. Bags should be brought into school before 9am.
Seasonal Sickness – it is that time again for coughs, colds, flu and outbreaks of norovirus, which impacts on us all, and not in a good way! We are therefore reminding you all of the importance of being vigilant for diarrhoea and vomiting (D&V) episodes/outbreaks. Thorough hand washing with liquid soap and water is the most effective preventative measure, however, in the event of infection, children with D&V should not return to school until they have been symptom free for 48 hours. There is infection control guidance in the parent advice section of the website.
Messy Church – there is a leaflet enclosed for Messy Church @ Kirkby Lonsdale Methodist Church this weekend.
