6th March 2020

We’ve had a rather busy week in school this week! The Walk to School was well attended with 16 children all enjoying homemade pancakes. Our next Walk to School has been arranged for Tuesday 14th April.
As always it was great to welcome so many parents through the doors for our Spring round of Parents Meetings, we really do value the opportunity to talk to you about children’s progress. If you have any questions or concerns please do come and see us at any other time; after school is usually the best time to catch class teachers.
On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day, it was lovely to hear the children talking about their favourite stories. We have been informed that The Book Lounge in Kirkby Lonsdale are accepting World Book Day tokens.
The 15 children who attended Rugby Club were very lucky with the weather for their first session today! Please ensure they have appropriate kit and shoes in school each Friday if they wish to continue.

Parent Help MorningTOMORROW – from 9.30am. Parent help would be greatly appreciated at school – with some tidying and general maintenance jobs. We would be grateful if you could bring some general tools and gardening tools with you, if you have them. We intend to start from 9.30am onwards and be finished by 12noon. Well behaved, helpful children are always welcome to come along too!

Welfare Assistant – we are desperate for a welfare assistant on to join us on a Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 11.45am – 1.15pm (term time only). We need someone to help serve meals and supervise the children during their midday break.  Please contact the office for more details.
We are looking to appoint two welfare assistants on a Friday, school staff are currently covering this.

Lancashire Library Bus Visit – the library bus will be visiting school on Tuesday for children to swap or renew library books.

REMINDER: Bills – monthly invoices were included in the Friday bags at the start of the week for those who prefer to pay by cash or cheque. Prompt payment is appreciated to keep account balances to a minimum. Thank you.

Bikeability Training – all of our Y5 & 6 pupils will be undertaking Bikeability training on Monday 16th & Tuesday 17th March. Before half term a letter, an ‘M’ checklist and a consent form were enclosed in the Friday bag. Please can you sign and return the consent form to enable your child to take part, thank you. Without consent, children will not be able to participate.

Malham Residential Visit – just a reminder to parents that the final balance needs to be paid by the end of March. Regular payments, or indeed full payment, can be made anytime between now and then. Payments cards have been sent out, please do come and talk to us if you have misplaced the card or if payment within this timescale is difficult.

Junior Recorder Club – Mrs Chesters is hoping to start a junior recorder club on Tuesday lunchtimes following the Easter break. Please indicate if your child would be interested in this.

REMINDER: School Council – we are still collecting donations for the Manna House in Kendal. The collection box is just outside Mr Stafford-Roberts’ office. Thank you for the donations already gratefully received.

After School Clubs – currently Mrs Lawson runs after school club on a Monday & Tuesday and every other Friday, and Mrs Franklin on a Wednesday, Thursday and every other Friday. Contact details for both are below, pre-booking is essential.
Mrs Lawson: 07812 503 114
Mrs Franklin: 07940 286 091
From 16th March, there will be a few changes as Mrs Franklin is away. There will be NO after school club provision on the following dates:
* Wednesday 18th March
* Friday 20th March
* Monday 23rd March
* Thursday 26th March
To meet after school regulations, club cannot run for more than 2 hours – so after school club must finish at 5.15pm and parents should make arrangements to have their child/ren collected by 5.15pm.

PTFA Easter Bunny Drive – the PTFA will be hosting the ever popular annual Easter Bunny Drive on Thursday 26th March from 6.00pm in the school hall. Tickets are £2.00 per person – pre-school aged children are free. There will be prizes for both adult and child winners!
There will also be a raffle drawn on the night; a mufti day has been planned for Friday 20th March in return for Easter hamper donations.
