4th September 2020
Welcome back to school, and welcome to all our new children! It has been lovely to see all our children return to school this week, they have all settled back in well and seem happy to be back surrounded by friends.
It is our intention to continue to email the newsletter and other information, in order to limit the amount of items coming to and from school. There will be a Friday bag next week with all our annual return to school forms.
We would like to make you aware of the staffing changes currently in place, Mrs Mather will be in the infants from Mon-Fri due to Mrs Browne’s absence and Mrs Cottam, a junior class teacher from Hornby St Margaret’s, will be teaching the juniors on a Thursday and Friday. Mrs Cottam is familiar with most of our junior class already and is looking forward to meeting the new children next week.
As a general back to school reminder, please can we politely remind everyone to stick to individual drop-off and pick-up times to allow for appropriate social distancing within the school grounds and the carpark. Children should not be playing on or with any of the equipment before or after school, we have a rota system in place on the equipment with staff regularly cleaning and sanitizing.
COVID ‘19 – our website has lot of information and guidance for you to refer to, please take a look. Children have coped well this week with the additional measures that we have put in place and we continue to be vigilant in school. Please do not send your child to school if they are unwell in any way.
School Packed Lunch – the school hot packed lunches have gone down well this week and the children all seem to be enjoying them. A menu is attached for information.
Homework – all homework will be uploaded to the OneDrive on a Thursday – to be returned the following Monday – parents can email Mrs Mather or Mrs Tidd with photos of completed work (preferred) or tasks can be completed in a homework book which should be brought into school on a Monday morning, being returned to children the following Thursday.
Reading – infant children will be given a home reading book on a Monday, which will be changed the following Monday if needed. Junior children will be given a reading book to take home which can stay at home until it is finished. All children will be reading in school and have school reading books.
Infant Baking – our baking session will resume on Monday with Thomas, George & Freyja. The infants bake in groups, on a rota basis, on Monday mornings. This half term we will be baking chocolate cornflake cakes. A letter from Mrs Mather with full details and ingredients are attached to the email.
Juniors Morecambe Football Multi-Skills – sessions start on Tuesday 8th September.
We have most children’s PE kits now in school, but please make sure your child has appropriate outdoor kit and trainers as we aim to be outside as much as we can.
Diddi Dance – sessions for Reception and Nursery children start on Thursday 10th September at 11.15am.
Swimming – swimming sessions resume from Thursday 10th September for all children in Y3, 4 and 5. As always, Y6 children will remain in school with Mrs Cottam. Please ensure that your child has their swimming kit with them each week (trunks and costumes – no shorts or bikinis please). Children will need to be able to get themselves ready, we will not be able to assist in taking out earrings or putting on swimming caps or goggles.
Infants Forest School Afternoon – our infants will be taking part in Forest School activities on Thursday 10th September. They should come to school in appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for the weather including waterproof trousers please.
Infants – Mrs Mather has asked for all infant children to bring in a shoebox please for an art project. If they could be brought in to school for Monday that would be ideal as we can quarantine them before use. Thank you.
Nursery – please can all nursery children bring in a spare change of clothes which can be left in school, rather than bringing in a bag each day their child is here. This is to stop the need for items coming to and from school each day. Thank you.
