6th November 2020
Before half term the infants had their first visit to Borwick Hall Outdoor Education Centre, they all thoroughly enjoyed the day, it all went smoothly and the weather was kind. We look forward to visiting again! The junior children were also very lucky with the weather yesterday as they enjoyed a day at Tower Wood. Y5 & 6 children enjoyed sailing on Lake Windermere, whilst the Y3 & 4 children spent the morning on the obstacle course followed by an afternoon in the canoes. Pictures can be seen on Facebook.
Clothing – as the weather is turning colder, it may be beneficial to send children to school with an additional base layer. This could be a long sleeved top underneath their school t-shirt and jumper or tights / leggings underneath their trousers. We are keeping classroom windows open as part of our Covid-19 risk assessment. Children can always remove a layer if they get too hot, but will struggle to focus on learning if they are too cold.
Parent Questionnaire – a Parental Questionnaire is enclosed in the bag this week; this is to gauge opinion about children’s lockdown work, please complete and return by 16th November. If you have more than one child we have included an extra sheet for your response if it is different. Thank you.
Welfare Assistant – we are still seeking to appoint a welfare assistant on a Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 11.45am – 1.15pm (term time only). We need someone to help serve meals and supervise the children during their midday break. Please contact the office for more details and pass on to any family or friends who may be interested.
Infant Baking – our baking session will resume on Monday with Thomas, Jake and George. The infants bake in groups, on Monday mornings. This half term we will be baking Mince Pie Pinwheels. A letter with full details and ingredients are attached to the email.
Infants Forest School – the infant children will continue their Forest School activities on Monday afternoon. We have a few sessions coming up this half term as we look set to complete our Platinum Green Tree Award. Children will need appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for the weather including waterproof trousers.
Parents Meetings – as with most things so far this academic year, our parents meetings will be slightly different. We are intending to give all children from Reception through to Y6 a 9 minute telephone call. Mrs Tidd will be making a start on Tuesday afternoon from 2.30-5.30pm and again the following Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Mrs Mather and Mrs Browne will call between 12.30-5.30pm on Wednesday 11th November.
If you feel you don’t require a call this term please email bursar@leck-st-peters.lancs.sch.uk to let us know so that we can plan accordingly.
We will inform you of your time shortly.
YDNP Visit – on Monday 16th November the juniors will be taking part in a Living Things Woodland Study with volunteers from the Yorkshire Dales National Park. A full information sheet will follow next week.
School Garden and Allotment – thank you to all who donated compost, plants and other items for our school garden. They are greatly appreciated and we can’t wait to get started! Any last minute donations would be very gratefully received.
PTFA – Co-op Local Community Fund – we are delighted to announce the PTFA have been chosen as one of the Co-op’s local causes.
If you have a co-op card and would like donations from your shop to benefit the PTFA, please log in to your Co-op account online and scroll down to choose your local cause. Thank you in anticipation of supporting us!
REMINDER: PTFA Recipe Book – final call for recipes to be added to the school recipe book which will be printed and sold in time to make an ideal Christmas gift.
Please send all recipes to Mrs Mather: vikimather@leck-st-peters.lancs.sch.uk by Monday.
