13th November 2020

We’ve had a busy week in school this week. Thank you to all parents we’ve spoken to over the last couple of days; we really do value the opportunity to talk to you about children’s progress. A time slot has been text to parents who are expecting a call from Mrs Tidd next Monday or Tuesday afternoon.
The infant children continued to work towards their Platinum Award with the Woodland Trust in their Forest School session. The next session is planned for Monday 23rd November.
All children enjoyed their gardening session this week. We would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Rutherford who has really got stuck in to the school garden and has many wonderful ideas. We can’t wait to see all these flowers bloom in Spring! Infant children will be doing some more gardening with Mrs Rutherford on Wednesday morning so please send children with wellies and waterproofs.

REMINDER: Parent Questionnaire – a Parental Questionnaire was enclosed in the bag last week; this is to gauge opinion about children’s lockdown work, please complete and return by Monday.

Welfare Assistant – we are still seeking to appoint a welfare assistant on a Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 11.45am – 1.15pm (term time only). We need someone to help serve meals and supervise the children during their midday break.  Please contact the office for more details and pass on to any family or friends who may be interested.

National Anti-Bullying Week 16th – 20th November is anti-bullying week.  The theme this year is ‘United Against Bullying’ and we will be doing some work on this in school.  Some useful information for parents about what is classed as bullying & how to help your child if they are being bullied or are bullying others is available online; https://www.bullying.co.uk/advice-for-parents

Yorkshire Dales National Park Visit on Monday afternoon the juniors will be taking part in a Living Things Woodland Study. Children should come to school in warm clothes with wellies and waterproofs too. Over the weekend, if children can find some different or unusual leaves / seeds please pop them in a bag and bring them in to show. All children will also need an empty carrier bag too. Thank you.

Boxes of Hope – we sent off seven boxes to Romania this week – we hope they bring some joy to children in Romania this Christmas. Thank you to all those families who brought them in.

Healthy Snacks – please may we politely remind all parents of junior children to send HEALTHY snacks in for break time, we are increasingly seeing children with crisps and chocolates. Please can we also ask that these snacks are left handy (i.e. in coat pockets) for the children.

Easy Fundraising – please don’t forget to support the PTFA by using the Easy Fundraising website or downloading the app – it’s straightforward to use, and schools can raise amazing amounts of money. All you need to do is create an account and set your cause to St Peter’s School Leck, the website is https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/stpetersceprimaryschoolleck/
