11th December 2020

We’ve had another busy week in school. The infant children all enjoyed their final Forest School session of this term, and have completed their Platinum Award with the Woodland Trust. Pictures have been added to the Facebook page.
On Tuesday, all children enjoyed their Christmas lunch, it was lovely to see them all enjoying their food with friends. It is with sadness we tell you that next Thursday will be Mrs Henderson’s final day working with us. Mrs Henderson has worked here for 5 years and has enjoyed her time here, I’m sure she will miss you all as much as we will her.
On Wednesday the junior children were lucky enough to spend the afternoon in the woods with volunteers from the Yorkshire Dales National Park. They tested the PH of the soil to find the best place for planting, investigated and identified the trees we have and found out more ways to encourage wildlife. We are looking forward to learning more in our science lessons.

Last day of term – this week the Government gave us the option to take Friday 18th December as a training day, putting this school day back in later in the academic year. We are conscious that changing the last day of term at short notice will inconvenience many parents and we have plans for the week which we would like to continue with, so Friday 18th December will still be our last day of term.
We hope that all children will remain fit and well over the Christmas break, but if your child/ren develop symptoms of coronavirus before 4pm on Sunday 20th December, please can we ask that you email us on head@leck-st-peters.lancs.sch.uk and we can assist with track and trace if necessary.

Welfare Assistant – we are still seeking to appoint a welfare assistant on a Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 11.45am – 1.15pm (term time only). We need someone to help serve meals and supervise the children during their midday break.  Please contact the office for more details and pass on to any family or friends who may be interested.

Post Box – the post box has now closed! Cards will be delivered to children next week.

Virtual Pantomime – we are all very much looking forward to our very first virtual pantomime next Wednesday. We would like to thank the PTFA for funding this wonderful opportunity for all children.

Party Day – next Wednesday afternoon is also our annual party day, so children can come to school in their Christmas jumper / party clothes.
Children do not need to bring anything with them as the PTFA have very generously donated party food.

Diddi Dance – our session next week is Christmas themed. Please can Nursery and Reception children come in their Christmassy clothes or accessories on Thursday. Thank you.

REMINDER: Edinburgh Residential – Y5 & 6 – June 2021 – we wanted to let you know that we are looking ahead to a post COVID-19 world where residential trips are able to go ahead, so feeling optimistic we have booked Edinburgh Youth Hostel for 23rd-25th June 2021.
If you have decided you DO NOT want your child to take part in the residential trip, please let us know so we can make an informed decision about the viability of the trip going ahead. Thank you.

Infant Baking – our baking session will resume on Monday 11th January with Alex, Freyja O and Amelie. The infants bake in groups, on Monday mornings. Next half term they will be baking Chocolate Chip Cookies. A letter with full details and ingredients will be coming home in book bags on Monday!

Juniors DT – we have some exciting plans for DT next term. If anyone happens to empty a Pringles (or similar) tube over the festive period we would be very grateful if you could bring them to school upon your return! All junior children will need one. Thank you.
