30th April 2021
We’ve had another lovely week in school, despite the changing weather. Please do send children with appropriate clothing as we are outside in all weathers. On Tuesday, Mrs Mather, Mrs Wilson and the infants on our eco committee went out down the school lane and were surprised at how much litter they found.
The junior eco committee members will head out on Tuesday 11th May.
Today all our children have taken part in ‘England Does The Daily Mile’ where the aim was to get 1 million children moving to show the positive benefits daily activity can have on our mental health.
Parent Help – we would like to say a huge thank you to our parents who have kindly volunteered to help with our outside jobs:
Mrs Holmes painted the infant playhouse, and just and so managed to beat the weather on Tuesday; it looks wonderful!
On Wednesday after school, Mrs Galley and Isla spent some time on the vegetable plot and will continue with this going forward. They have some great ideas for how we can make it a much more manageable and workable space.
Mrs Hall spent Friday morning weaving the willow den – and how much better it looks!
All the hard work and effort Mrs Rutherford gave to the garden in autumn is suddenly bursting into life, we do hope you’ve all enjoyed seeing the daffodils and tulips coming through.
We do still have other jobs on the list if you are able to help please let us know.
Infants Dairy Workshop – On Wednesday 19th May, our infant children will be going to the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes to take part in a ‘Make It and Taste It’ workshop. We are asking parents to contribute £5.00 per child towards the trip. Payment has been set up on our SchoolMoney system; please let me know if you need any help accessing your account. A full information sheet will be sent out next week.
Infant Forest School – Wednesday 5th May – morning – infant children will be continuing their forest school activities on Wednesday morning. Please send children with appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather. Thank you.
Juniors Gratitude Walk – next Thursday afternoon the junior children will be taking part in a gratitude walk to Springs Wood in Leck to tie in with our current topics. Please ensure children have appropriate coat and shoes for the weather. Thank you.
Upper Junior Climbing Day – our year 5 & 6 children will be experiencing an introduction to climbing on Tuesday 11th May. An experienced instructor from Tower Wood Outdoor Centre will lead, along with Mr Stafford-Roberts and Mrs Elliott and will take place at Hutton Roof. More information will follow next week.
PTFA News –
Volunteers – whilst we aren’t currently an active PTFA due to restrictions, we are still in need of parents to form the committee and have active roles in the organising of fundraising events and ideas. We are also in need of volunteers to become signatories on the bank account. For progression purposes, we will also be needing infant and lower junior parents to step in, as many of our active members currently have their youngest children in Y5, so won’t be here after next year.
