7th May 2021
We’ve had a busy week in school.
The infant children had a wonderful morning in the woods for Forest School on Wednesday and made a brilliant bug hotel! We are hoping we may have had some guests arrive before our next session on Tuesday!
On Thursday, the junior children walked to Springs Wood and took part in a gratitude activity. We were very lucky with the weather; although it was cold, we arrived back in school just before the heavy rain.
Newsletter – we were quite disheartened on Thursday to realise how many children had come to school unprepared for the walk to Springs Wood. Please can we stress the importance of reading the weekly newsletter, sent home via email, to keep up to date with the latest goings on in school, and for important dates coming up.
Parent Help – we would like to say a huge thank you to our parents who have kindly volunteered to help with our outside jobs:
Mrs Holmes came back on Wednesday lunchtime to add some finishing touches to the playhouse. Thank you so much, we really appreciate it!
We do have a couple of gaps in the dry stone wall surrounding school if there are any parents with the ability to help us repair these. Thank you in advance.
Infant Forest School – Tuesday 11th May – all day – infant children will be continuing their forest school activities on Tuesday. Please send children with appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather. Thank you.
Upper Junior Climbing Day – our year 5 & 6 children will be experiencing an introduction to climbing on Tuesday 11th May. An experienced instructor from Tower Wood Outdoor Centre will lead, along with Mr Stafford-Roberts and Mrs Elliott and will take place at Hutton Roof. A full information sheet is attached.
Infants Dairy Workshop – On Wednesday 19th May, our infant children will be going to the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes to take part in a ‘Make It and Taste It’ workshop. We are asking parents to contribute £5.00 per child towards the trip. Payment has been set up on our SchoolMoney system; please let me know if you need any help accessing your account. A full information sheet will be sent out next week.
Healthy Snacks – please may we politely remind all parents of junior children to send HEALTHY snacks in for break time, we are increasingly seeing children with crisps and chocolates. Please can we also ask that these snacks are left handy (i.e. in coat pockets) for the children.
PTFA News –
Volunteers – whilst we aren’t currently an active PTFA due to restrictions, we are still in need of parents to form the committee and have active roles in the organising of fundraising events and ideas. We are also in need of volunteers to become signatories on the bank account. For progression purposes, we will also be needing infant and lower junior parents to step in, as many of our active members currently have their youngest children in Y5, so won’t be here after next year.
