24th September 2021
We have had a relatively quiet week in school! The junior children all enjoyed their Tower Wood day on Monday – they took part in various different activities including canoeing, kayaking, low ropes and tree climbing. As the weather was so lovely, some of the children braved the jump into the Lake at the end of the day.
It has come to our attention that the newsletter isn’t being read and therefore parents are asking teachers for details of upcoming events. We try to put all information in the newsletters in advance so parents have all the information they should need. We urge you to read the class and weekly newsletters regularly.
Covid-19 – if you have older children at QES in Cumbria you may know about the latest guidance issued about siblings who are positive and isolation of other children in the family. Please see the link below;
https://news.cumbria.gov.uk/News/2021/siblingsofcovidpositivechildrenshouldisolatetoo.aspx?s=08
We agree with this advice as a means of protecting our school community, both children and adults, from further infection.
It is also the case that there are a significant number of children who have come down with illness such as coughs and colds since returning to school. We know that there are other symptoms in children such as colds, headache and tummy upset from Covid so we ask you to take any child for testing as a precaution which, again, helps to protect our school community.
Thank you for your support in this. We are trying to give the children in school as ‘normal’ an experience as possible and if we keep infection rates down then we won’t have to return to bubbles and school lockdowns which Public Health England would require us to do.
KS2 Cross Country – some of our junior children will be taking part in a cross-country event at Tatham Fells CE Primary School along with other local schools on Monday 27th September. Parents of the children involved will be emailed a full information sheet.
Harvest Activity Day – this year’s harvest activity will take place on Tuesday 28th September.
We’re on the hunt for clear plastic bottles, if any parents can help by sending some in, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Film Club – Mrs Mather will be running an after-school film club on Tuesday evenings from 3.15-4.15pm from 28th September. If your child/ren will be attending, please let the office know via email.
£2.00 per session, payment will be made available on SchoolMoney.
Infants Forest School – the infants will be continuing their Forest School Adventures on Thursday with a visit to the wooded area here at school. They will need appropriate outdoor clothing suitable for the weather. If they have waterproof trousers please send them, as the ground is often damp even if it’s not actually raining.
Lancaster Trip – children from Reception through to Year 6 will be going on a whole school trip to Lancaster on Tuesday 19th October. The infants will be heading to Judges Lodgings and the juniors will be visiting the City Museum. In the afternoon, the children will meet to visit the Roman Baths.
This visit aids the children’s topic work. The cost of the trip is £7.50 per child and payment will be made available via SchoolMoney. A full information sheet will be sent nearer the time.
SchoolMoney– end of month reminders will be sent out early next week to anyone with outstanding payments for Early Morning Club and School Meals. Please can we ask that account balances are kept to a minimum.
New Books! – some of our junior children will be coming home with new books over the weekend. Please can we ask that you encourage children to look after them to help keep them in the best possible condition.
The PTFA very kindly donated £1000 to the KS2 library and we were overjoyed to stock the library with lots of lovely new books. Thank you to the PTFA for funding.
PTFA News –
Bag2School – the Bag2School collection has been arranged for Tuesday.
They accept good quality adult and children’s clothing, paired shoes, hats, bags, belts, ties and soft toys. No bedding, curtains, towels or bric-a-brac please. Bags should be brought into school before 9am.
Film Night – a film night has been planned for Friday 8th October, film tbc. To get an idea of numbers, please email bursar@leck-st-peters.lancs.sch.uk to confirm attendance. Tickets £2.00 to include drink & sweets.
Back 2 School Party – Fraser Hall, Cowan Bridge – Thursday 21st October 3.30pm-6pm. Fancy dress is optional we will do some party games, fancy dress competition etc. There will be face painting, glow sticks, and raffle tickets on sale on the door so bring along some pennies.
We will provide sausage in a bun, cake and juice for the kiddies. Cuppa for the parents/carers. Siblings/friends welcome.
Tickets are £5 per child and all proceeds go to the PTFA. Could we ask for payment as soon as possible that would be really appreciated that way we can plan numbers.
Please note it is not a Halloween party, the kids can come dressed however they wish! Hope you can all come along and support a great cause.
100 Club – the PTFA are keen to set up an ongoing club 100 and would like to gauge an idea of how many numbers would need to be available.
