15th October 2021

We’ve had a lovely week in school this week. Thank you to all those parents who attended their virtual parents meeting this week, we really do value the opportunity to catch up with parents. Please remember if at any other time you would like to speak to a teacher about your child you can arrange a mutually convenient appointment for after school.
Our infants all had a brilliant day at Borwick Hall on Tuesday – we have added some pictures to our Facebook page.
Also on Tuesday, some of our upper junior children took part in a Rugby tournament in Wray. They played incredibly well as a team, all working really hard for each other and made it to the semi-finals. Well done team!

Reception New Starter Photo – the Lancaster Guardian photographer came into school on Wednesday to take a reception group photo.  Keep a look out for it in the paper, she said it would probably be the middle of November.

School Photographs – the photographer will be in school on Monday 18th October to take individual and sibling pictures. Children with pre-school siblings are welcome to arrive for 8.50am to have a family photograph taken.

Horrible Histories – to finish their History topic, Y5 & 6 will be watching part of the Horrible Histories Rotten Romans DVD which is certified PG. If you have any concerns regarding this please email Mrs Tidd. Thank you.

Litter Pick – Mrs Mather will be heading out on a litter pick, next Monday lunchtime, with some children from the Eco Committee, as part of our Eco Schools initiative.

REMINDER: Lancaster Trip – children from Reception through to Year 6 will be going on a whole school trip to Lancaster on Tuesday 19th October. The infants will be heading to Judges Lodgings and the juniors will be visiting the City Museum. In the afternoon, the children will meet to visit the Roman Baths.
This visit aids the children’s topic work. The cost of the trip is £7.50 per child and payment is now due. A full information sheet is attached.

After School Film Club – this week in Tuesday night Film Club, we will be begin watching ‘Peter Rabbit 2’ which is rated PG. We will resume watching it following the half-term break.

Harvest Collection – on Thursday 21st October, children will be attending a Harvest assembly with Rev Wendy Thornton. We would like to ask all families to contribute to our Harvest collection by bringing in a food item to donate to our local foodbank, the Community Cupboard in Kirkby Lonsdale.

A message from the School Council

Dear Parents,

On the 21st October we are having a bake sale. Everything will cost 50p and please do not bring in more than a £1, we are baking the biscuits and cakes in school time, so the children don’t need to bring anything in except 50p or £1.

We will donate the proceeds to the Community Cupboard in Kirkby Lonsdale which is the local foodbank.
Thank you for supporting us.
