5th November 2021

We’ve had a busy return to school. It has been lovely to welcome all children back after the half-term break. We would also like to warmly welcome Sophie-Joy to Year 4. We are sure you will be very happy here.
We would like to say a big thank you to all families who donated a box to our Boxes of Hope appeal. These have been delivered to Hornby for collection.
Our first Walk 2 School was very busy, well done to all the children who joined. Mrs Mather will be organising these on the first Tuesday of each month, the next being Tuesday 7th December.

Infant Class Newsletter – please find attached an infant class newsletter giving you specific information on the focus of studies for this term.

After School Film Club – children will begin to watch ‘Spy Cat’ this week. Please let us know if your child/ren would like to join by emailing bursar@leck-st-peters.lancs.sch.uk

Young Voices – we are pleased with the response to the Young Voices Concert and the children are enjoying practising; they sounded lovely yesterday afternoon. We now need to know if any parents would like to attend the evening concert on Monday 7th February 2022, you will need to make your own way to Manchester. Please either email me or print and return the slip at the end of the newsletter to indicate if you would like to buy tickets at £20 each. Please do not send payment at this point but this is your only opportunity to buy tickets through school and we need the form back by Monday 15th November at the very latest.

Clothing – as the weather is turning colder, it may be beneficial to send children to school with an additional base layer. This could be a long sleeved top underneath their school t-shirt and jumper or tights / leggings underneath their trousers. We are keeping classroom windows open as part of our Covid-19 risk assessment. Children can always remove a layer if they get too hot, but will struggle to focus on learning if they are too cold.

Volunteer Readers – the infants are seeking volunteers to come and listen to them read. If you can spare an hour and would like to come in and listen to children read, please let us know.

The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal – as some children are already aware, we have poppies, zip pulls, reflectors, wrist bands and rulers for sale at the office. The minimum suggested donation is 50p per item and we are limiting children to a poppy and one other item each.

Lancashire Adult Learning – the team from Lancashire Adult Learning have organised two workshops to take place at school – ‘Fun with Phonics’ and ‘Fun with Maths’ for all reception children and their parents. These will take place on Thursday 25th November and Tuesday 14th December from 9.30am – 11am.  Please email to let us know if you and your children would like to join in with these sessions.

PTFA – Co-op Local Community Fund – we are absolutely delighted to announce that the Co-Op Local Cause Fund raised a fantastic amount of £2,471.74! Thank you to all those who chose us as their cause. We are now in the process of obtaining quotes for the canopy.

We were also really pleased with the turn out for the ‘Back to School’ party and raised over £450.00. We would like to say thank you to all those who attended, everyone who helped on the day and the PTFA for planning and organising such a wonderful event for our children.
