12th November 2021
We have had a relatively quiet week in school. With the weather turning wetter and colder, please can we encourage all children to come to school with appropriate outdoor clothing. This includes appropriate outdoor PE kit and trainers too as we will try to get out whatever the weather! Thank you.
Staffing – this week Mrs Moorby joined the team, she will be working Tuesday-Friday lunchtimes. Some of the children may remember Mrs Moorby, as she worked with us from 2016-2019.
From Monday, we will have an additional Teaching Assistant working in the junior classroom, Mrs Ratcliffe. We are sure they will both be very happy here at Leck.
Poppy Appeal – a huge thank you to all who donated to the poppy appeal, it was lovely to see so many of the children wearing poppies or bracelets.
National Anti-Bullying Week – 15th – 19th November is anti-bullying week. The theme this year is ‘One Kind Word’ – thinking of how we can be kind to each other. To kick start the week, on Monday we will be wearing odd socks to show our individuality! and we will be doing some work on this in school. Some useful information for parents about what is classed as bullying & how to help your child if they are being bullied or are bullying others is available online; https://www.bullying.co.uk/advice-for-parents
After School Film Club – children enjoyed watching ‘Spy Cat’ and will continue to watch it this week.
REMINDER: Young Voices – we are pleased with the response to the Young Voices Concert and the children are enjoying practising; they sounded lovely yesterday afternoon. We now need to know if any parents would like to attend the evening concert on Monday 7th February 2022, you will need to make your own way to Manchester. Please either email me or print and return the slip at the end of the newsletter to indicate if you would like to buy tickets at £20 each. Please do not send payment at this point but this is your only opportunity to buy tickets through school and we need the form back by Monday 15th November at the very latest.
REMINDER: Lancashire Adult Learning – the team from Lancashire Adult Learning have organised two workshops to take place at school – ‘Fun with Phonics’ and ‘Fun with Maths’ for all reception children and their parents. These will take place on Thursday 25th November and Tuesday 14th December from 9.30am – 11am. Please email to let us know if you and your children would like to join in with these sessions.
Easy Fundraising – please don’t forget to support the PTFA by using the Easy Fundraising website or downloading the app – it’s straightforward to use, and schools can raise amazing amounts of money. All you need to do is create an account and set your cause to St Peter’s School Leck, the website is https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/stpetersceprimaryschoolleck/
Boxes of Hope – we sent off seven boxes to Romania this week – we hope they bring some joy to children in Romania this Christmas. Thank you to all those families who brought them in.
Christmas – this week children have started their Christmas play practice. This year will be slightly different, as we will host the play at the Church on Wednesday 15th December. We will have two performances and we will be limiting the number of people in the audience to enable us to social distance families. More information will follow.
Pantomime – unfortunately this year we haven’t be able to secure a whole school trip to watch the pantomime. However, we have managed to book an online live streaming panto from the same company as last year, which we all thoroughly enjoyed. This year we will be watching the pantomime all together during the last week of term.
