We’ve had another relatively quiet week in school this week. Our Y1 & 2 children took part in a Multi Skills event at Caton on Monday and all thoroughly enjoyed the range of activities. We have added a few pictures to our school Facebook page.
Covid-19 – we do currently have Covid in school, both positive cases and close contacts of positive cases. Please be cautious and use lateral flow tests on your children if they display any symptoms, including cold symptoms.
At school, we would prefer you to keep your child/ren at home for 5 days if they are a household close contact, but the latest official advice is below:
If you are aged 5 years and over and live in the same household as someone with COVID-19, and are not legally required to self-isolate, you are strongly advised to:
- take an LFD test every day for 7 days, or until 10 days after the household member who has COVID-19 started their self-isolation period if this is earlier
- take this daily LFD test before you leave your home for the first time that day
- report your LFD test resultsafter taking each test – reporting positive LFD test results means that NHS Test and Trace can get in touch with your contacts and advise them on what to do; reporting negative LFD test results helps us understand more about the spread of COVID-19
Football at Arkholme – some of our junior children have been invited to take part in a football tournament at Arkholme on Tuesday 1st February. A full information sheet will be attached next week. Children taking part will be required to be at school ready for an 8.45am set off.
Upper Junior Caving Day – our year 5 & 6 children will be experiencing an introduction to caving on Tuesday 22nd February. Experienced instructors from Tower Wood Outdoor Centre will lead, along with Mr Stafford-Roberts. This will take place at a cave in the Yorkshire Dales chosen by the instructors, dependant on the weather. Please come and see Mr Stafford-Roberts if you have any queries or concerns.
Christian Aid’s Afghanistan Appeal – attached to the email is a colouring activity which children can take part in over the weekend. The Entertainer Toy Shop has already donated £25,000 to the Christian Aid Afghanistan Appeal, but they have also agreed to donate £1 for each picture which is coloured in and shared on Facebook with the hashtag #TheEntertainerAppeal.
REMINDER: Junior Maritime Museum Trip – Mrs Tidd has planned a visit to Lancaster Maritime Museum on Wednesday 2nd February to compliment the children’s current History topic work. Payment of £6.75 should be made via SchoolMoney in advance of the trip. A full information sheet will be sent nearer the time.
REMINDER: School Money – there are still a number of accounts with quite high balances from previous months – please can we ask that account balances are kept to a minimum. Thank you.
REMINDER: Spring Flowers – as we start to see the first bulbs shooting, please ensure you keep to the path on the way to and from the car park. We can’t wait to see all the flowers in full bloom again.

£3 per child to include a drink, sweets / popcorn. Film will be Spies in Disguise (PG)
Money to be sent in prior to the event in a named envelope to the office so we know numbers in advance for staffing.

Drawn at the end of term winning number gets 50% of the money (eg 100 squares sold £50 to winner and £50 to PTFA funds). Please see Rachael Booth (Erin, Lillian and Ella’s mum) in the playground.
