Welcome back! It has been lovely to see all our children return to school this week, they have all settled back in well and seem happy to be back surrounded by friends. We have also welcomed Jude to our Nursery, who joins Reuben, Lexi & Ethan in the pre-school year.
School Value –our value for this half-term is “love”. Assemblies and class worship will be focused on this value and children in school who show joy will be celebrated. Our school value changes every half-term.
Gardening Club – will continue on Monday for all children interested in taking part. Please send children with an appropriate outdoor coat and wellies. Thank you.
Walk 2 School – our first Walk to School of this academic year is on Tuesday 9th September. As always, any children taking part will enjoy breakfast together when they arrive at school. We will meet at 8.20am in the carpark at the back of Cowan Bridge Village Stores. Please note, some children can be left with staff to walk up to school if you are heading off to work – however, we are always very grateful to those parents who do stay and walk up with us as extra helpers!
Eco-Club – Hot Chocolate and… will resume on Tuesday. Any children wishing to have hot chocolate and a snack on a Tuesday morning should bring in £5.25 in a named envelope which will cover the seven weeks to half term.
Swimming Lessons – begin this Thursday for children in Reception, Y1 & Y2. Please ensure that your child has their swimming kit with them, and every Thursday this half term. There is a goggles permission letter from Lune Valley Swimming Pool attached, if you wish your child to wear goggles, please ensure the letter is signed and returned before Thursday.
Roald Dahl Day – all children are being invited to take part in a special lunch to celebrate Roald Dahl Day on Monday 15th September – please see the menu attached. If children who do not usually have a school meal on Monday would like to join in, please email me.
Where the Wilding are – we will be taking part in an Autumn project with Where the Wildings are at Hornby St Margaret’s on Friday 19th September from 12.20pm-3.30pm. All children will need an apple.
Parents are being asked to collect from Hornby at 3.30pm.
Earrings – we have noticed a few children have had their ears pierced over the summer holidays. Please can parents ensure that children are able to take out their own earrings for PE / swimming. If children are unable to take out their own earrings, please send in some tape for children to cover their own ears. Unfortunately, school are unable to help or take any responsibility. Thank you for your co-operation.
Healthy Lunchboxes – packing a lunchbox is more than just filling a container – it’s a chance to fuel growing bodies and busy minds for the whole school day. A balanced lunch helps children stay energised, focused, and ready to learn.
Try to pack:
- Fruit & veg – aim for colour and crunch.
- Wholegrains – sandwiches, wraps, or pasta.
- Protein – chicken, cheese, beans, or yoghurt.
- Healthy snacks – fruit slices, veggie sticks, or popcorn.

Healthy Snacks – all junior children are encouraged to bring a healthy snack to enjoy at morning playtime. We request that this is one of their five portions of fruit or veg a day. Any undesirable snacks will be sent home.
