WELCOME BACK!
Welcome back to a new school year and we hope that you all had a lovely summer holiday! A huge thankyou from all the staff for our lovely end of year gifts, we are still enjoying the sweet treats you brought us. We said farewell to Mrs Dyson over the summer so have Mrs Sharpe in the office on a Tuesday and Mrs Harrison on a Monday and Friday for the time being. In other summer news we are sure you will join us in congratulating Mrs Hodgson on her marriage, she returns to school as Mrs Stalker.
New Faces…
Welcome to our new children Maisie & Leah Hird, Leah is in the juniors and Maisie in the infants. We also welcome Hugo Auger into nursery. Our reception class Joshua Lawson, Finlay Thompson and Gracie Geidmintis-Dixon will start on Monday. We are sure they will all be very happy here at Leck!
Westmorland Show
Our first school trip of the year will be next week on Thursday 8th September to the annual Westmorland County Show. The children will be exhibiting a large display of their work at the show. We are asking parents to pay a £5.00 contribution towards the cost of the day. This includes admission and transport. Please complete and return the slip giving permission for your child/ren to attend this outing together with payment of £5.00 per child by Monday given the proximity of the trip.
Cheques should be made payable to Lancashire County Council.
We will be using last school years medical and trip permission forms, if anything has changed regarding your child/rens medical information please do let us know asap.
We appreciate that some families will be attending the show in any event and if you would prefer your child/ren to go as a family unit rather than as part of the school outing, please indicate clearly on the reply slip given. More information and a kit list is on the information sheet enclosed in todays Friday bag.
Early Bird Morning Club & After School Club
Sessions have resumed from 8am to 8.45am and then 3.15pm to 6.00pm daily. Don’t forget, parents can always bring their child/ren on an ad-hoc basis, simply turn up on the day to either of the clubs; it would be helpful if you could bring along your payment of £1 for the early morning club if you are using it adhoc, booking is not essential but we may send out some forms soon so that parents that wish to book and pay in advance can.
Class Newsletters
In this week’s bag, you will have separate infant and/or junior autumn term class newsletters giving you specific information on the focus of studies this term.
School Councillor Badges
Please could all School Councillor Badges be returned into school next week. Many thanks.
Friday Bags
We thought it might be useful to remind you of how newsletters, school visit details and other information are communicated. Each Friday, a bag will be sent home via your eldest child in school. This bag will contain a variety of information for you to read and, in some cases, act upon. Please empty your bag on receipt ready for returning back to school every Monday. You can use the bag to safely return any reply slips, completed forms and money, if any has been requested. Any money that you do send into school must be in a clearly marked envelope with your child’s full name and what the money is for. It is important to ensure that your child knows to bring back and hand in their bags each Monday, especially if you have placed money inside.
School Dinners
Parents of children who have a school dinner will find an invoice in their Friday bag each week for the cost of the meals (except our infant children of course). Some of you may prefer to pay in advance whilst others may wish to pay weekly- the choice is yours! We are happy to receive payments weekly, monthly or for each half term. The cost is £2.20 per day. If you wish to pay for school dinners up to half term, the cost will be £74.80 (34 days @ £2.20 day) per child. Payments should be sent into school as soon as possible and any adjustments for days off etc. will be done at half term. Cheques should be made payable to: Lancashire County Council.
Infant Cooking Classes
Infant cookery classes will resume on Monday 5th September starting off with Megan & Gracie and, once again, the infants will be cooking in pairs, on a rota basis, on Monday mornings. The first half terms bake will be Chocolate Fudge Cake (yum!) and in this week’s bag, you will find a letter from Mrs Mather with full details and ingredients.
Junior Swimming
The arrangements for this school year are that year 3, 4 and 5 children will go swimming in the autumn and spring terms with year 6 children remaining in class for extra tuition. Year 4, 5 and 6 children will go swimming from the summer half term with year 3 children remaining in class for extra tuition.
