Summer Term – Edition 33

What a lovely week we’ve had in school this week. The infants enjoyed forest school on Monday – especially cooking their own lunch (probably mainly the pudding!) in the forest. It was our final session of the academic year, but Mrs Mather is already busy making plans for next year’s Forest School activities.
The children from Y4, 5 & 6 had a great time at the KLRUFC event, after a drizzly start the day turned out lovely and all the children enjoyed the various rugby-based activities, a big thank you to Kirkby Lonsdale RUFC for providing this opportunity to children.
The children from Y5 & 6 have all just come back from a fabulous morning playing rounders at Hornby St Margaret’s, where they all played really well as a team!

Arnside Residential – parents of children going to Arnside – you will find your child’s medical form in the Friday bag, please mark onto it any changes and return to the office for Monday – many thanks.

Arts Week – parents are invited into school at 2.45pm on Wednesday 27th June for tea and cake and to have a browse around our galley of creations from the week.

Big Sing Event @ Casterton – all our junior children have been practising hard to take part in the Big Sing Event at Casterton, Sedbergh Preparatory School, LA6 2SG on Thursday 28th June.  Pupils will need to be dropped off at Sedbergh Preparatory School at the main reception at 8.50am, where Mrs Kelly will meet them.  We hope parents can get together and arrange this, if anyone has a particular problem, please let Mrs Knapp know early next week.  We have arranged a bus to bring them back to school at lunchtime.  An information sheet giving more details is enclosed.  Early morning club is available for those who may wish to use it for siblings.
Parents are able to attend the performance and can arrive at the school at 11.30am; please let us know if you intend to go as space is limited.

Leighton Moss Reserve – our whole school trip this year will take place at Leighton Moss Reserve on Thursday 5th July where the infants will meet the junior children who will be on their residential visit. The cost of the trip is £16.50 each, we are asking all infant parents to contribute £10.00 per child (juniors have already paid via the residential costs).

REMINDER: The Great Leck St Peter’s Bake Off – last week the school council sent home a letter regarding this event they are planning for later in the summer term. There was a reply slip attached at the bottom of the newsletter to give us an idea of how many people would like to take part – please return if you’d like to take part.

Sun Protection – the long-range weather forecast is looking good, so please ensure your child has a sun hat when out and about on the playground. We are happy for sun cream to be brought into school for children to apply themselves before going out at lunchtime (named please). Thank you.

Trophies – please can all trophies be returned to school ready for our end of year awards, please and thank you.

REMINDER: New Uniform – there will be a uniform order going in next Friday 29th June, any parents needing new uniform for September should collect an order form from the office and return it ASAP. Many thanks.

PTFA Film Night – the PTFA have arranged a film night for next Friday from 3.15pm. Tickets are £2.00 and includes a sausage hotdog and juice. The tuck shop will also be open selling popcorn, ice pops (weather dependant) and sweets (bags of 20p & 50p). Please complete the slip at the bottom of the newsletter if your child would like to attend, please also indicate whether you will be in attendance.

Parent / Carers Night Out – a night out has been arranged for the Saturday 14th July. If you are interested, please let Amanda Park know. There is a menu outside the office, please mark your choices on by 9th July.

And finally a reminder for year 6 parents to arrange transport to QES on Tuesday 26th June and to return children to school once collected after lunch. Thank you.
