24th May 2019
Well what a lovely way to end the week, and half term. The children all looked fabulous in their pyjamas and we’ve raised £80 for North West Air Ambulance. Thank you to all members of the school council who have worked so hard to bring this together. We must also say a big thank you to Asda at Kendal for donating the drinks and snacks for this afternoons disco.
The infants enjoyed their Forest School session on Tuesday morning and are well on their way to completing the Platinum Award via the Green Tree School Woodland Trust scheme.
Parents Meeting – Edinburgh – many thanks to all the parents who attended the meeting at Hornby on Tuesday night. For those parents who couldn’t make it, please find enclosed a kit list and itinerary, if you have any questions or concerns please do come and see us.
After School Clubs
Games Club – Mrs Lawson is still offering her after school games club on Monday, Tuesday and Friday afternoons, please contact her on 07812 503 114 to book. Pre-booking is essential – even if it’s just a phone call on the day – we cannot accept children whose parents haven’t agreed with Mrs Lawson.
Gardening Club – Mrs Mather will be continuing her Tuesday lunchtime gardening club from Tuesday 4th June.
Infant Cooking Classes – our baking session will resume on Monday 3rd June with Charlie, Hugo, Sophia & Thomas. The infants bake in groups, on a rota basis, on Monday mornings. This half term we will be baking carrot cakes. In this week’s bag, you will find a letter from Mrs Mather with full details and ingredients.
Y6 Research – Thursday 6th June – thank you to those Y6 parents who have returned consent for their child to take part. The children themselves will be asked to consent to the research prior to Johanna coming.
PTFA Mufti-Day & Tuck Shop – children can come to school in their own clothes on Friday 7th June in return for a pamper hamper donation which will be raffled at the jumble sale. There will be a tuck shop at the end of the school day too.
PTFA Jumble Sale – Saturday 22nd June 10am-12noon at Fraser Hall.
A list of helper slots has been put up outside the office – please ensure you sign up if you can help – these events cannot happen without enough volunteers.
Jumble donations are welcome and can be dropped off at the office following the half term break. Thank you.
Welfare Assistant – we are still looking for a welfare assistant. We need someone to help serve meals and supervise the children during their midday break. The vacancy is term time only covering Wednesday, Thursday & Friday from 11.45am – 1.15pm. Please contact the office for more details.
Parent Governor – a vacancy for a parent governor has become available. If you are interested in joining the board, please speak to Stuart Hemingway, either by phone 07706 143 380 or email stuarthemingway@btinternet.com or pop in and see Mr Stafford-Roberts. Thank you.
We do still have, and are actively seeking foundation governors, if you know anyone who may be interested please pass on our contact details.
We wish you and your families a happy half term holiday. We look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 3rd June!
