14th May 2021

We have had a really lovely week in school. This week we joined the nation and participated in some Mental Health Awareness Week activities – the theme this year being ‘connect with nature’.
On Tuesday our Upper Juniors went climbing on Hutton Roof Crags for the day, we were very lucky to get the best of the weather and the children all had a thoroughly enjoyable day.
Our infant children also spent the day outside for their latest Forest School session. They also completed their first STEM project – by using local British produce and school grown herbs to make some delicious pizzas! Thank you parents for providing the ingredients. We’ve added some pictures to our school Facebook page.

Parent Help
– this week we would like to thank Mrs Fawcett and Mrs Taylor for spending Monday morning digging the turf off outside the infant classroom so we are able to make our mud kitchen area more accessible in all weathers by using bark underneath.
URGENT: We do have a couple of gaps in the dry stone wall surrounding school if there are any parents with the ability to help us repair these. Thank you in advance. We were made aware this week, that a couple of little lambs had been stuck in the stone wall gap, so please do come forward if you are able to help!

Infants Walk to Springs Wood – on Tuesday afternoon, all our infant children will be walking to Springs Wood. Please send children with appropriate outdoor clothing and a coat, gloves and a hat may also be needed if this cold spell continues. We will be looking around the woods for signs of Spring to link to our current science topic.

Infants Dairy Workshop – on Wednesday 19th May, our infant children will be going to the Dales Countryside Museum in Hawes to take part in a ‘Make It and Taste It’ workshop. We are asking parents to contribute £5.00 per child towards the trip. Payment has been set up on our SchoolMoney system; please let me know if you need any help accessing your account. A full information sheet is attached.

PTFA News –
Volunteers – whilst we aren’t currently an active PTFA due to restrictions, we are still in need of parents to form the committee and have active roles in the organising of fundraising events and ideas. We are also in need of volunteers to become signatories on the bank account. For progression purposes, we will also be needing infant and lower junior parents to step in, as many of our active members currently have their youngest children in Y5, so won’t be here after next year.
