2nd July 2021

It has been another busy week in school this week!
Firstly, we would like to say a HUGE thank you to Emma Galley and her partner Richard for building the brilliant raised beds which you may have noticed this morning. We are also very grateful to the PTFA for funding the cost of these. In school, we are looking forward to developing this with the Eco Team and being able to share our wonderful produce.
On Monday, the juniors had another great session with Rebecca from The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority. The children had a wonderful time learning about the different types of rock we might find in the Yorkshire Dales. Pictures have been posted on our Facebook page.
On Wednesday morning, Mrs Jones visited school. Mrs Jones will be starting here in September and will be teaching our Y3 & 4 children every morning.
On Thursday, our infant children had a thoroughly enjoyable day at Borwick Hall. The children spent the day doing various activities, including team building, canoeing and climbing.
Some of the junior children have been at Hornby St Margaret’s this morning to take part in the Rounders tournament. They played really well as a team and finished 3rd place overall! Well done team – we are so proud of you!

Reports – this year’s reports have been sent as a PDF file by email. If any parents haven’t received them or are having trouble opening them please do let us know.

Eden Project – next week, a teddy bear named Eden Bear will be paying us a visit as part of the Eden Project North. We are asking all infant children to bring in a teddy from home on Tuesday morning, as we will be having a teddy bears picnic.

Lets Learn Moor – on Thursday our junior children will be heading off to Abbeystead Estate to take part in a countryside learning project. We would like to thank The Forest of Bowland Moorland Group for organising and inviting us to the event. A full information sheet is attached.

Foodbank Collection – we have some items in our foodbank collection and would like to ask families to donate to our collection; please send long life, non-perishable produce such as a tin or packet of dried food, items can be brought into school and placed in the box outside the office next week. All items will be donated to Manna House in Kendal before the end of term. Thank you for your support.

School Meals – please find attached a letter regarding school meals for September onwards. Please return the slip ASAP, thank you.

REMINDER: Reception 2021 Intake – all children who will be starting Reception in September will be invited to come to school and stay for lunch on Monday 5th July. Children should be collected at 1pm.
The following Monday 12th July, children will be invited to come to school and stay for lunch and parents are being asked to attend a short induction meeting at 12.00pm.
