What a busy week we’ve had! We kicked off the week with a lovely, but rather chilly, Infants Forest School, the children baked bread on the fire in the morning, made cereal and fruit bird feeders which we hung from the trees and finished the day with s’mores! Pictures have been put on our Facebook page. We had our annual Christmas Activity Day on Wednesday, where we all certainly got in the festive spirit by singing Christmas Carols and making crafts based on some of them. On Thursday, we welcomed a small group of our Reception parents in to a ‘Fun with Phonics’ session, which we hope was useful and informative. And finally, a huge thank you for all the hamper donations received today – the PTFA are going to be able to make some super hampers. Raffle tickets will be available soon.
After School Film Club – children will continue to watch The Grinch. Drink and snack provided, children should be collected at 4.15pm.
Christmas Performances – our Christmas play performances will take place at 2pm & 6pm on Wednesday 15th December in Church. We are asking all families to indicate on the reply slip at the bottom of the newsletter, which performance they would like to attend. Here is some information which you should all know:
- We are following COVID procedures for the Church and will be leaving a pew free between each family – this limits us to 14-16 pews each performance.
- Families must all attend the same performance.
- We are strongly encouraging any families who can attend the daytime performance to do so as we will only be able to accommodate half our families at each time.
- All children (excluding Nursery) must attend both performances.
Christmas Cards – we will have a post box for children who wish to send Christmas Cards. The box will be open from Monday for them to post their cards. We will then empty the box just before the end of term and distribute the cards.
Christmas Lunch – all children have had a Christmas Lunch ordered for Wednesday 8th December, if you DO NOT want your child/ren to have a Christmas lunch in school, please email me to OPT OUT. Payment will be available on our SchoolMoney online platform.
Nursery & Reception Open Evening – please share details of our open evening with anyone who has a child due to start Reception or Nursery from September 2022 who may wish to join us for a chat with the staff, discover what school life is like here at Leck and have a tour of our wonderful setting.
Christingle – the children all made a Christingle with items kindly donated by The Children’s Society. Each part of The Christingle has a special meaning and helps to tell the Christian story.
- The orange represents the world
- The red tape symbolises the love of Christ
- The sweets and dried fruit represent all of God’s creations
- The lit candle represents Jesus’s light in the world, bringing hope to people living in darkness.
Parents are able to donate towards The Children’s Society, if they wish, at christingle.org/donate
Monthly Payment Reminders – payment reminders for school meals, early morning club and any other clubs or trips have been sent out this morning.
Library Bus – the library bus will be visiting on Tuesday lunchtime. Please can all infant books be returned. If children would like to sign up to the library, parents should fill out and return the form which is coming home in Friday bags today. Thank you.
PTFA Meeting – the PTFA are meeting at Cowan Bridge Tea Rooms on Tuesday 30th November at 1.30pm. Please go along to offer support if you are able.
REMINDER: Seasonal Sickness – it is that time again for coughs, colds, flu and outbreaks of norovirus, which impacts on us all, and not in a good way! We are therefore reminding you all of the importance of being vigilant for diarrhoea and vomiting (D&V) episodes. Thorough hand washing with liquid soap and water is the most effective preventative measure, however, in the event of infection, children with D&V should not return to school until they have been symptom free for 48 hours. There is infection control guidance in the parent advice section of the website.
