Welcome Back!

A very Happy New Year to you and your families and we hope that you all enjoyed the festivities over the holidays! A big thank you to all the children and parents who sent in lovely cards and gifts for the staff at Christmas – they were very much appreciated although our waistlines may disagree!

Labelling Uniform & Kit

Please ensure that all items of uniform and PE kit/trainers are named.  We have some items of kit missing in school, particularly Euan’s PE t-shirt which is named.  Please could parents check at home if they have it by mistake.  Many thanks.

Swimming

Swimming sessions will re-commence on Monday 11th January 2016, please remember to bring your kit into school.

Infant Cooking Classes

Infant cooking sessions will continue after Christmas starting on Monday 11th January. As usual, the children will be cooking in pairs, on a rota basis, on Monday mornings. Full details were sent out last term but a sheet has been put in children’s bags who are baking this coming Monday as a reminder.

School Dinners

For those parents who wish to pay for their children’s school meals up to half term, this will be at a cost of £66.00 (Monday 4th January to Friday 12th February = 30 meals @ £2.20 per meal) Cheques should be made payable to Lancashire County Council – thank you. Any credits from last term will be carried forward as usual. We will send out invoices as necessary.

PTFA News

PTFA are pleased to let everyone know that the bags to school collection raised £106.00, thank you for all the contributions given.  The PTFA will be having their first meeting this term in school next Monday 11th January in school at 2.30pm.

Out of School Club & Administration Vacancies

We are having some staff changes in school and the above vacancies are currently advertised on the Lancashire county council website with a closing date of 4pm Monday 11th January.

Post Graduate Student From 20th January we will have Cormac McAnespy a post graduate student helping with teaching in the junior class. We are sure everyone will make him very welcome in school.

Infants Forest School For our first forest school this term we will be continuing with a cooking theme, further details about this will follow in next week’s Friday bag.  As well as cooking we will be creating our very own mud kitchen and would really appreciate it if all children could bring in one item that could be used to contribute to this new area.

Items won’t be returned so please only send in things that you don’t want back; it could be cutlery, bowls, pans, an old microwave or anything else that you’d find in a kitchen.

Specialist Teaching from QES.

This week the juniors had their first dance class with Laura Shepherd from QES. She will be coming into school each Tuesday afternoon.

We also have Mrs Lawrence continuing her music/recorder teaching, again with juniors, on Thursday afternoons. Please can juniors ensure they have their recorder each week. Private piano tuition is also available.

Private guitar and drum tuition with Mr Lheureux continues this term, again on Thursday afternoons, so please ensure your child has their musical instrument available in school that day.

Malham Residential Visit

Looking forward to the summer months already and, in particular, the residential visit to Malham in June! Just to remind parents that the final balance will need to be paid by the end of March. Regular payments, or indeed full payment, can be made anytime between now and then using the envelopes previously provided. If anyone has lost or mislaid their envelope, please do let us know as we can produce more to enable you to keep track of your payments.

New School Website

We are pleased to let you know that school has a new website.  We hope you will find it easy to navigate and full of useful information.  The Parent Information section will be of particular interest.  The address remains the same https://www.leck-st-peters.lancs.sch.uk/

Tobacco Free Lancashire

Lancashire Country Council have produced a leaflet for parents of year 6 pupils about keeping children tobacco free.  They are included in this week’s year 6 pupils Friday bag.

Parent Governor Vacancy We have a vacancy for a parent governor, please talk to Mr Stafford-Roberts or Jayne Davies if you feel you could fill this role and would like to apply for the vacancy.  We would also welcome applications from members of the community.
